Almaden Parents’ Pre-School(APPS) is seeking qualified substitute teachers for our EE, 2, 3, 5 day and Enrichment classes for children ages 18 months - first grade entry.

Class times and ages:

EE: Monday, 3:30pm-5:00pm (ages 18 months- 2 ½)
2-day: Tues/Thurs: 9am-11:30am (ages 2 - 3 ½)
3-day: Mon/Wed/Fri: 9am-11:30am (ages 3 - 5)
5-day: Mon through Fri: 12:30-3pm (ages 3 years, 9 months - 5)
Enrichment: Tues, Wed, Thurs 3:30-5pm (ages 4 - 6)

*plan for 30 minutes before and after class for set up and clean up

Job duties:

Implementing a well-balanced program of daily activities designed to meet the needs of the children (ages 18 months - first grade entry)
Facilitating, encouraging, and supervising children’s PLAY both indoors and outdoors
Supporting parents’ involvement in pre-school class; supervising parents while they are assisting
Maintain attendance records for children
Knowledge and implementation of early childhood development best practices and Positive Discipline
Ability to effectively manage a classroom and maintain class cohesion (using Positive Discipline tools)
Leads brief and informal post-class conference/check-in for working parents to discuss class situations as needed

Requirements:

CPR and First Aid Certification (including infant and child)
Fingerprint clearance - community care licensing
18 Semester Units (minimum) in Early Childhood Education (ECE). MUST include the following:

Supervision and Administration I: Center Management
Supervision and Administration II: People and Processes
Core Child Development
Child, Family, and Community
Curriculum

Adhere to all safety, fire codes, licensing regulations (per State of California guidelines)

Note: This is a substitute position, so flexibility in scheduling is required. Substitute teachers may be called upon on short notice to fill in for absent teachers.
